R U ready for a new spring look? A new color, some hi-lights? and a new haircut?

Blonde Hair for Spring
Erika Redding, the owner of Red Union Salon loves changing her clients looks! When her clients are open, she loves changing their hair color seasonally. In spring she starts by adding hi-lights to her clients hair. Her Summer hair color is usually the lightest and brightest with lots of dimensional hi lights. She starts deepening the color in fall with lots of autumn shades and in winter the color is usually the darkest, coolest for a more and dramatic effect.

One of Erika’s favorite colors to use are Redken’s Shades EQ, an equalizing conditioning color gloss. She has 35 shades of color to choose from and will create a striking new looks for you. The reason she chooses Shades EQ is the color adds a lot of shine and makes the hair look and feel better the first time no matter how damaged your hair is and improves use after use. The color is designed to last approximately 6-8 weeks. However, if you follow Erika’s recommendation to shampoo your hair no more than 2-3 times a week your color will last even longer.

Erika’s favorite color to use when hi-lighting is Matrix SoColor.
SoColor Honey Creme hair color is the number one professional tube hair color in America. The advanced organic honey base and extra moisturizing ingredients deliver beautiful, lasting results with complete predictability.

It’s her permanent color line that she uses to create dimensional high-lights and low-lights as well as her permanent tints.
The “ultra-light blonde” series are awesome if you love to be blonde. A totally natural look for complete coverage or high lighted effects.
The “gray natural series” with double pigmentation are outstanding if you wish to completely cover stubborn grays or blend your gray.

So if you’re ready for your sexy new spring look, Erika is offering $20 off her color services and $20 off her haircuts until Summer with this offer.

Your Designer Hair Color

Every day I get asked about color. So, I thought I’d try explaining the method to my madness.  It is my “passion” and therefore a little bit of madness. Color is all I think about some days!  If you where one of my color clients and I saw you on the street, instead of your name, the first thing that would pop into my head, is your color formula.

Many things go into the process of designing hair color just for you!

First of all, I look at your own unique coloring.  Virgin Hair color, Skin color and texture, Eye color, colored contacts, even your lip color.  How much make-up do you wear, or not. Are you “high maintenance” or “low maintenance?” Meaning how often do you visit a salon to upkeep your look and color.

Then I take into consideration your personal style.  Are you casual or more dressy most days.  Flashy, Classic, Conservative, Exotic… How old are you? How old do you look.  A good color can take 10 years off. How many days a week do you style or change your hair. Are you using  products to achieve your look.  Do you have a work persona? What is your personal persona? Your day play persona? Your night life persona? Your dating persona? etc…

Then I go into the current season and how that translates to your personal coloring. Spring I tend to start lighting your hair keeping it on the cooler side.  Summer months your color would be its lightest and on the warmer side. In Fall I deepening your tresses with warm autumn shades. Winter you will be your darkest and back to your coolest pallet.

Let’s not forget what Styles and colors fashion designers dictate every season and the color pallet that the world wears for the next 3 months. You can walk down any street, look in the windows and you will see what that color is.

Achieving all these outstanding color spectrums I have to attribute to my 58 Permanent shades of “Socolor” by “Matrix“.  Great for lifting and lightening your hair. My 58 hughes of “Shades EQ” by “Redken” is my semi-permanent Color that bills itself as “the color that thinks its a conditioner.” It leaves your hair with amazing shine and much healthier looking than when we started. Mixing and matching a total of 116 color shades I achieve endless shades of blonds, reds, brunets and blacks desired.  I feel just like my mother who was an artist with her painters pallet.

So in short, you will never get bored with at least 4 different color formulas I would love to design just for you throughout the year.  Each and every one of them designed to your own personal coloring, personal style and Fashion colors for the season. My job and my passion is to accent all your best features making what mother nature gave you even better. Outstanding color is what I strive to achieve every single time 🙂

Redken's Do You Shades EQ – Inspiration in Hair Color

Wow, does this article (see below) ever take me back. Do you remember when Sebastian invented Cellophanes? It was one of the first colors that created a lot of shine with a lot of color deposit, and one of my favorite colors ever.

Being a new stylist at the time it was a bit challenging however. Many of the colors where “Hot!” – in the industry meaning on the “unnatural” side. Punk was in then. However if you where not a “punker” and did not want screaming bright hair, it was definitely a problem. So, when Redken came out with Shades EQ, I fell in love. We use Shades EQ in the salon now and it is “perfection every time”. We still also use Sebastian and love it too. Of course it’s not scary any more since we are all seasoned colorists & stylists now.

Do you shades EQ – Celebrating 20 Years of Inspiration
Stylists around the world depend on its gentle, no-lift formula to glaze refresh and correct. With every Shades EQ service, they know their clients will end up with healthy, shiny, amazing color. What else would you expect from the “haircolor that thinks it’s a conditioner”.

Amazing Credentials
In 1988, haircolor wasn’t the first thing on stylists minds. Back then, it was all about the “cool factor” of being a great cutter. Companies focused on product and education desighned to cater to younger clients desire for cuts and body waves. Hard to believe but color was thought of as complicated, old fashioned and-frankly-just not hip!

Something had to come along to change things. That something was Shades EQ. Redken Founder Paula Kent Meehan turned what seemed like a limitation into an asset, creating haircolor that was simple, dependable and totally versatile. The EQ represented the equalizing effects on the porosity of the hair, and “conditioning color gloss” let stylists and clients know they’d end up with healthy, gorgeous shine. What’s more, catch names like “TerraCotta” amd “Rocket Fire” helped stylists easily visualize the results they’s get.

For the first time, stylists where empowered to give clients their dream haircolor, and they weren’t afraid to do it, in fact, they were excited about haircolor.

An Inspiring Future
20 years later, that excitement hasn’t faded one bit. Now, with more than 50 shades in 16 tonal families, there’s simply no limit to the possibilities. No wonder stylists vote Shades EQ the #1 long-lasting, no ammonia, demi-permanent haircolor year after year.
